Read before your next round of Crazy Eights
Read the position before choosing your next action. Empty your hand by matching the active suit or the top card’s rank. Eights let you choose the next suit. Try the rule on the board, then read the next instruction. Each player starts with five cards from a standard 52-card deck. The starting discard is not an eight.
Two-player free play with a local computer opponent. No draw-two stacking or reverse cards. A refreshed page starts a new round.
Give this approach a try
Read the position before choosing your next action. After an eight, match the called suit or play another eight. The eight’s printed suit is not the active suit. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.
The objective of a round
Use the controls beside the game rather than guessing the rules. Empty your hand by matching the active suit or the top card’s rank. Eights let you choose the next suit.
Start here and follow along
- Each player starts with five cards from a standard 52-card deck. The starting discard is not an eight.
- Play one matching card. An eight is always playable; choose its suit using the suit selector before tapping the card.
- After an eight, match the called suit or play another eight. The eight’s printed suit is not the active suit.
- Draw one card at a time when needed. Drawing does not end your turn; keep drawing or play a legal card.
- The stock is not recycled. With no stock and no legal card, pass. Two consecutive passes end the round in a draw.
- The first empty hand wins. New round deals again.
Getting comfortable with the controls
The example and rules describe the same game you can play above. Tap a playable card. Set the suit selector before playing an eight. Draw and Pass have separate buttons. Try the rule on the board, then read the next instruction.
Try this example
If 5♣ is on top, you can play another club, another five, or any eight. Calling hearts with an eight makes hearts the active suit. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.
A common point of confusion
Check the rule below as you play. Do not assume that every eight keeps its printed suit. The called suit is shown beside the discard pile. Start a new round when you are ready to try again.
